Effects of the process of rust removal with hand grinding machines in closed spaces on board
This paper presents the results of measuring of the dynamics of the grinding process with different number of grinding machines, in closed spaces of a ship. The measuring method employed was based on recording of the flow of outputs of the driving medium generator as a function of time. As a result, relations between the developed grinding outputs and the number of grinding machines employed in simultaneous operation have been obtained as well as the operating intermittence and the degree of the operator's exposure to vibrations and their harmful effect to his body. It has been noticed that the dust developed during the grinding process has a great limiting effect to the effectivity of employing a larger number of grinding machines, that the operator in creases the grinding power with the increasing level of his fatigue because he wants to fulfil the set working norm, and that during his eight-hour shift he develops a working dynamics which exposes him to harmful effects of the grinding machine vibrations within the limits permitting such exposure without harmful effect to his health.
