Some Hazards Tests on Optical Fibre Cabels
Although the optical fiber materials are more and more common onboard ships, special conditions on the sea (air, water, salt, etc) can reduce capacity of such components. It is observed in practice. Furthermore, additional tests should be accomplished to meet the safety standards, which complicate the number of parameters that should be taken into account in the design. Due to real conditions, all tests should be constantly monitored to find the way of improvement. For example, different winds bring different atmosphere conditions, which can influence the performances. The optics components enabled ship's local area network implenentation as well as complete ship's system integration. This article provides a description of some optical fibre cable tests, such as mechanical, fire resistance, flame retardant, water penetration and similar
