SUNKEN VESSEL - APPLICABLE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION METHODS

In this paper ecology condition of the sunken vessel MB ¨ELHAWI STAR¨ was analysed. Potential ecology intervention methods against pollutant blocked in sunken vessel tanks and spaces was described. Covered methods have been located to the two typical methods: a) Intervention methods on the sunken vessel, and b) Sunken vessel Lifting-up method. Although several ecology protection methods have been described and discussed, an implementation of a specially prepared additional open chambers, placed on the left sunken vessel side along the machinery space, have been suggested. Pollutants that come from the sunken vessel tanks and spaces will bi continuously collected within upper’ s open chamber. From the open chamber pollutants will be collected through small piping in to the surface buoy pollutants tank. Although sunken vessel surfacing possibility was under consideration that solution is not suggested because it will be very expensive.
