Sažetak
The paper presents the data about the conditions of equipment in the diesel-engine propulsion system collected from the daily reports by research over the period of 13 years. For the research, the data about the failures and maintenance activities when the propulsion system fails during the voyage are taken from the engine’ s log book. The critical components mostly damaged during the operation are defined by analysis of failures – registered failure cycles. The critical components include the exhaust valve, the injection valve and fuel pump. The most endangered components of the propulsion system is the exhaust valve with the highest failure rate. The failure rate of the critical components an the system is the relation of the number of breakdowns due to irregular conditions and the total operational hours of the propulsion engine with in a defined period.
