Prediction of the thermal radiation heat transfer in a furnace by Monte Carlo zone method
The mathematical model of radiation heat transfer based on the Monte Carlo method is developed and tested on a simple case of radiation in a cubical enclosure for which numerical solution is available. Number of emitted energy bundles in a sample is varied in order to establish its influence on the final solution. Different averaging techniques are tried in an attempt of decreasing the magnitude of the temperature fluctuations during iterations which are the consequence of the stochastic nature of the method. Basically the same mathematical model with the additional provision for fuel heat generation is used for calculating radiation heat transfer in a steam generator furnace. Results are shown in the form of distributions of heat flux densities and temperatures in the furnace and on its walls.
