The use of analgesics in the treatment of chronic pain patients
Acute pain is experienced immediately upon bodily injury or damage. The goal of pain therapy is to relive pain while minimizing drug-related adverse effects. Unrelived pain can result in adverse physiological and psychological effects, as well as the potential for increased morbidity. In addition, there is experimental evidence that untreated or undertreated acute pain will increase the risk of evolving into a chronic pain. Vigorous analgesic intervention is crucial to prevent the adverse consequences of uncontrolled pain /chronic pain and PTSD/
