SOME TRENDS IN CROATIAN MULTIPLE ROCKET LAUNCHER SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
The work presents a short review of multiple rocket launcher systems developed during the Croatian War of Independence. More attention has been paid to two types of self-propelled multiple rocket launchers: 122 mm TYPHOON and 128 mm LOV-RAK-24. These two rocket launchers can form the basis for the development of a new generation of the most effective artillery weapons in the Croatian army. The subsystem for launching has been selected for more detailed examinations among numerous subsystems that can be considered in this kind of weapons. During and after the war experiences have been obtained about dangerous cases and possibilities of selflaunching and simultlaunching (the launching of rockets not on demand). Several possibilities of designing the circuits and subsystems with improved resistance to selflaunching are discussed and presented. The term adaptive launching is introduced, too. It refers to the idea of defining times of launches so that both, the mechanical oscillations of the rocket container and the time between two rockets launching, are minimized.
