Palatability and Nutritive Values of the Strawberry Tree (Arbutus unedo L.) at the Main Vegetation Season.
Mediterranean rosemary plant community Erico-Rosmarinetum officinalis is a common and very widespread shrublands in the Mediterranean part of Croatia. It represent open type of shrubly vegetation with significant participate of herbage vegetation. The most common and dominate species of the rosemary garrigues are: browse, Erica multiflora, Cistus villosus, Cistus monspeliensis, Rosmarinus officinalis, Helichrysum italicum and grass Brachypodium retusum. According to results obtained, the community investigated shows low grazing values. Beside the key species have a low palatability and feeding values and their utilization is often limited by secondary compounds like tannins, saponins, glycosides, alkaloids, terpens and essential oils. Establishment of the primary elements of the forage values - analysis of floristic composition, primary production, palatability, chemical composition, digestibility and energy values - of the dominant species of the ass. Erico-Rosmarinetum officinaalis represent the first step in the more rational management of these natural resources
