Semantic aspect of knowledge and information transfer proces in new educational technology environment

By applying the basic postulates of de Saussure's theory of language that language is a system of signs and that each sign consists of two parts - the signified and the signifier - and Ogden- Richards' perception of the semiotic process of sign recognition, which consists of three elements - the referent, the concept and the symbol - to the contemporary educational technologies, new approaches to the problem of communication in the educational process arise, which combine several media. If the process of acquiring knowledge (using the example of foreign languages and informatics) is perceived as a semantic triangle, it results in more efficient learning, because instead of two separate triangles « ; referent- concept-symbol» ; (one for the native and one for the foreign language) there is only one, combined triangle. The only difference is that the « ; symbol» ; , i.e. the « ; signifier» ; is double, or bilingual. Thus, if the students realize that the triangles overlap, i.e. that the « ; referent» ; and « ; concept» ; are the same in both cases (in both languages), and that the only thing that changes is the sign, i.e. the « ; symbol» ; or the « ; signifier» ; , they can acquire new knowledge more quickly and more efficiently (as opposed to memorizing two separate triangles, what should be avoided). The graphic aspect of the « ; symbol» ; in the process of information transfer should be emphasized because all aspects of communication (audio, visual and textual) have an equal role in the stated communication process. Since information and knowledge transfer in today's globalized world is irreversibly intertwined with communication and technology, the described approach to the process of acquiring knowledge is an inevitable part of the contemporary way of life.
