Regional Dispersion of Foreign Direst Investment in Eastern Europe
A number of studies, research projects and projections of the economic development in the transitional economies of Eastern Europe begin with a hypothesis that domestic saving is insufficient but that there is enough foreign capital to nurture investment activities, which will result in high growth rates. Therefore, if LDC and transitional economies are grouped together on the basis of similar features of certain economic indicators, a relatively favourable picture of capital transactions emerges. However, if transitional economies are grouped separately it becomes apparent that financial investors have shown a relatively modest and decreasing interest in investing in former planned economies of Eastern Europe.
