Heat transfer analysis in dry rotary heat exchanger
A mathematical analysis of the heat transfer physical phenomenon in the dry rotary heat exchanger is reported. Matrix material of the rotary heat exchanger is aproximated as of a porous structure for the hot and cold gas stream flow. The mathematical model is described by the system of mass and energy conservation equations, and in analysis the heat conduction in tangential, radial and axial direction is taken into the consideration. Governing differential equations of the threedimensional model are solved numerically using finite difference technique. For solving a set of linear algebraic equations an iterative procedure is applied. Calculated temperatures for three-dimensional model are in good accordance with results obtained in relevant works for two-dimensional model. Also, calculated regenerator efficiencies for both models are in good agreement. On the basis of these solutions the effect of the matrix heat conduction on the temperature fields of gases and matrix is studied.
