Ptotection from sea oil bunker pollution damage - consequences on tourism
Two authors have analysed the consequences of sea bunker oil pollution damage with direct impact on tourism of coastal states. Namely, cruising voyages on passenger vessels are on the increase. It is well known, that some great passenger vessels transport more bunkers in comparison with tankers that transport cargo. Such situation frequently leads to bunker oil pollution damage. Large heavy oil slicks might cause pollution of wide sea areas and thus destroy the fisheries and tourism of coastal states. Numerous bunker spills have shown that relatively small quantities of this type of bunkers might considerably affect the environment and cause high cleaning expenses. From the above mentioned point of view, two authors analyze the stipulations of Bunker Conventions from 2001. by which civil liability for the pollution was regulated, and at the same time they give schematic technical characteristics of vessels i.e. the distribution of tanker's bunkers in compliance with technical requirements so to reduce the pollution to a minimum.
