Trust Meets Social Psychology
The phenomenon of trust is characterized by the fact that a hearer is in an epistemically risky position in which she has to make a decision to accept an informant's testimony as true in a situation in which she can be deceived. I have argued here in favour of evidentialism or the position that epistemically responsible trust is a matter of evidence. Further, I have tried to offer a certain contextual approach to trust as the most promising option which could harmonize character trait theories and situationism.
