CroDiab NET – A golden tool for diabetes service
CroDiab NET is a software developed to integrate the function of electronic patient record and simuntaneous collection of data for the national diabetes register. The idea was conceived in 1997 and a feasibility study was finished in 1999. Central module is the basic information sheet, according to the St. Vincent Declaration consensus as a potential quality control tool. Data for diabetes registry as well as a letter for family physician are automatically extracted from patient records and simuntaneously verified by a diabetologist . The implementation and availability of data for analysis have been steadily increasing: from the first 896 patients records (3 centres) at the end of 1999, to the 17045 patients records (10 centres) collected via modem by December 2001. The difference in data collection between 1999 and 2001 was: BMI 66% vs. 77% , HbA1c 60% vs. 66%, blood lipids 56% vs. 64%, albuminuria 11% vs. 14%, blood pressure 33% vs. 39%, respectively. Addition of extra modules enables the use of CroDiab Net as a patient record for non-diabetics in facilities where office and/or staff is shared
