Designing Experimental Framework for Multi-agent Autonomous Mechatronic Processes
Inventions and technological progress allow technical systems to deal with more and more complex industrial tasks with increased autonomy, enabling profit to companies and liberation of humans of tedious work. At the same time, it means that the technical systems become more and more complicated, both on hardware and control levels, requiring enlarged planning effort. The paper discusses a concept of a mechatronic environment and experiments suitable for research and education in the field of automatic industrial processes, such as assembly, disassembly and packaging. The concept covers planning and execution issues, and it is based on a multi-agent approach, i.e. involved mechatronic pieces of equipment and processes are thought as autonomous agents.
