What makes Croats happy? Predictors of happiness in a representative sample
On representative sample of Croatian citizens (N=1242) we examined the relationships between overall measure of happiness (i.e., Fordyce scale) and satisfaction with six life’ s domains (i.e., material status, health, achievement in life, relationships with family and friends, feelings of physical safety, and acceptance by the community where they live). Results of hierarchical multiple regression showed that happiness was associated with more satisfaction with individual’ s health, material status, achievement in the life and relationships with family and friends, while controlling for subjects’ income. Results support the notion that there are different correlates of happiness and all domains of life do not make people happy.
