Effect of soil tillage systems and nitrogen fertilization on weed infestation in winter wheat
Field experiments with soil tillage treatments for winter wheat (A1= ploughing ; A2= discing ; A3= tillage by multitiller ; A4= tillage by rototiller + sowing by Rotosem ; A5= ploughing, sowing by Rotosem) during of 1992/93-1995/96 years, carried out on humogley in Eastern Croatia, showed the following: Differences in weed density and weed biomass exist induced by various tillage system and fertilization. The results suggest that tillage systems and nitrogen application can be exploited in crop - weed management, for example in a programme designed to reduce herbicide use by integrating its usage with interaction between tillage systems and level of nitrogen fertilization in a strategy to combat weeds in winter wheat.
