Mother tongue in learner talk in the English as a foreign language classroom
The aim of this thesis was to discover the extent to which learners of the fifth, sixth and seventh grade of elementary school use the mother tongue in the process of foreign language learning. The thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and experimental part. The theoretical part presents the most important facts that are connected to the topic of this thesis and are relevant to the experimental part. The experimental part presents and describes the results of the analysis of the mother tongue use in learner talk and its functional distribution. It also explains the reasons why learners use their MT at the expense of English.
