Chemical Stability of Dental Ceramics Analysed in New Conditions

Investigations have shown that dental ceramic is very inert when placed in the oral cavity. However, material investigations cannot be generalized and neither can the facts on inertness of a particular dental ceramic. The basic investigation is performed according to ISO standard 6872. However, researching technical literature an idea emerged that the investigation period should be prolonged in order to make it more similar to the in-vivo condition. The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical stability of four types of dental ceramics over seven daya immersion in acetic acid and to compare the values with those obtained using the ISO 6872.
