Validation of Eulerian Spray Modelling

This elaborate brings the results of numerical simulations of high pressure injections and their comparison with experimental results. Spray formation and propagation occur during introduction of liquid fuel into the combustion chamber via an injector. Spray and mixture formation model has been based upon a fully Eulerian treatment of the gaseous and liquid phases. The spray has been represented by the volume fractions of one liquid phase and several droplet size class phases where complete set of conservation equations was solved. The atomization of a fuel spray has been divided into two main processes, primary and secondary breakup. The former takes place in the region close to the nozzle at high Weber numbers while the secondary breakup occurs further downstream and it is largely independent of the nozzle type.
