The presented results are the part of scientific project “ Prevention of Behavior Disorders in Local Community” conducted by Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Zagreb, Croatia (principal investigator: Josipa Basic, Ph.D.) and Administrative Department of Health Care and Social Welfare of the Region of Istria, Croatia. In order to identify risk and protective factors that exist in children’ s environments as well as the risk behaviors children are involved in, data were collected by questionnaire Healthy California Kids Survey (version for elementary school), from California Department of Education, USA. The mentioned questionnaire cover four domains that are subject of questioning: risk behavior of children, health, school and peers. The sample (random sample) comprises 301 elementary school children aged from 10-14 from range of elementary schools in the County of Istra (the Republic of Croatia). Statistical methods will be descriptive analysis and discriminative analysis. Besides description of the risk behaviors and risk and protective factors in children’ s environments, differences between 5 sub-samples will be discussed. Mentioned 5 sub-samples are created regarding the age of children (grade they are attending). The results show that children from 4th grade (age 10) perceive less risk factors related to health and risk behavior then students from 8th grade (age 14). These differences show that level of risk vary thought age and could be used as guidelines for effective and specific intervention planning.
