Organochlorinated pesticides in pig fatty tissue
Within the frame of the national residue Monitoring Program of Croatia, the levels ov various organochlorinated pesticides, among other contaminants, have for decades been determined in the pig dorsal fatty tissue. The aim of this study was to assess the opportunity of the perirenal fatty tissue as the "target tissue" for the determination of chlorinated pesticides. Fatty tissue samples were prepared by the matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) method, and pesticide levels were determined by gas chromatography on capillary column using an electron capture detector. Results were controlled by GC/MS system. The results showed the perirenal fatty tissue contain statistically higher levels of lindane and HCB than dorsal fatty tissue (p< 0.01), confirming the hypothesis that perirenal fatty tissue can be used as the "target tissue" for some organochlorinated pesticides in pigs.
