Experimental model of a piezoelectrically damped flexible link
A model of a single DOF flexible manipulator has been built. The model is used as test bed for evaluation and comparison of various control algorithms for active flexural vibration damping. All implemented algorithms performed well and successfully increased damping of flexural vibrations of the beam. The only problem observed was mechanically induced aging of piezoelectric actuators.
