Plasma from uninephrectomized rats stimulates production of inositol phosphates and DAG, however it does not stimulate PthCho breakdown. TPA-mediated activation of protein kinase C stimulates PtdCho breakdown via activation of PtdCho specific phospholipase C, but its physiological role is uncertain, since TPA will activate all subspecies of protein kinase C.
