An Application of JM® -specimen in Prediction of Steel Quenching Results
The possibility of application of JM®-test in computer simulation of quenching of high-hardenability tool steels was investigated. An application of JM®-specimen in prediction of cylindrical steel specimen quenching results has been done. Relation between the JM® distance and critical diameters of cylindrical specimen for different quenchants has been done. The quenchants were with different Grossmann H value (H=5 ; 2 ; 1 ; 0.3 ; 0.2 ; 0.025). By the analyses of possibility of application of JM®-specimen in steel quenching is visible that JM®-specimen is suitable for application wide range of diameters. Maximal diameter for quenching in water is 560 mm, for quenching in oil that diameter is 490 mm and for cooling in air is 140 mm.
