Short-time pylorus-ligation method

To date there is no report on the effect of the short-time pyloric ligature (e.g. 1 minute) on experimental gastric lesions. In this way, the unpleasant limiting factors (susch as forestomach lesions, excessive gastric juice accumulation, unphysiological distension of stomach) known after conventional period of ligature (e.g. hours)were fully avoided. In addition to complete pyloric occlusion, anaesthesia, abdominal incision and loose pyloric ligature were tested as sham procedure. We demonstrated that complete pyloric occlusion even for short period (e.g. 15 min) inevitably produced very strong haemorrhagic lesions ("stress ulcers") (microscopically appearing as erosiones, in addition to lamina propria permeated by red blood cells and regularly compressed empty stomach blood vessels). Moreover, some minor lesions were found already after loose ligature. Since pyloric ligation firstly damages serosal stomach side and mucosal resistance was found to be extremlely vulnerable to serosal injuries, it was sugested that from serosal side produced by touching/handling of stomach ischaemic microcirculatory disorders (even without intraluminal processes) are responsible for described brief lesions development.
