Magnetic Properties of the Hf-Fe Metalic Glasses
We have measured magnetization of Hf100-xFex (x=20, 25, 40 and 43) glassy alloys in the temperature range 4.2K to 300K and magnetic field up to 5T. The alloys with x≤ 40 are paramagnetic with magnetic susceptibility χ exp increasing rapidly with x, which is due to presence of Fe 3d states at EF and the onset of magnetic correlations in the vicinity of transition into the ferromagnetic state, xc ≈ 50. The onset of correlations shows up also in Curie-Weiss term in χ exp which increases rapidly with x. The alloy with x=43 is superparamagnetic. The results are compared with those for similar Zr-3d glassy alloys.
