The Competence Development for Constructive Partners Conflict Solving : The Role of Transgenerational Transfer
Social workers in treatment of families and partners face a persistence of problems that suggest a intergenerational transmission of marital problems. An increase of violence in partners relationships and an increase of divorce rates implicate a need of a systematic introduction of prevention programs and counseling work to improve skills of partners for constructive resolving of partnership conflicts. The results of research in the last two decades confirm a hypothesis that the main predictor of long-term successful and unsuccessful partners relationship is precisely the way in which partners handle their conflict. The results of retrospective research confirmed a positive cCrrelation between the mode of solving partners problems in the relationship of parents and the partnership of their children in the period of young adulthood. The results would corroborate the importance of transgenerational transfer in the formation of the model of functioning in a partnership.
