COMBINED AGENTS IN WOOL SCOURING AND THE TREATMENT OF OBTAINED WASTEWATER
The textile industry consumes large amounts of water in wet processes that discharge many chemicals into effluents. Raw wool contains different foreign matter and metallic ions as impurities dependent of its provenance. Different methods for greasy wool scouring are used to eliminate these impurities. The wastewater from these processes differs greatly in the composition and the quantities. No universal method of water treatment can be suggested and the wastewater purification depends of present impurities. In this work a combination of EDTA and an enzymatic complex for raw wool scouring was used. The obtained wastewater has been treated by the use an isothermal adsorption on zeolite A and H-bentonite as adsorbents. The results of these investigations have been monitored by determinations of pH, electrical conductivity, surface tension of filtrates and gravimetric measurements.
