Methodological analysis of relevant factors influencing tram traffic regularity

Tram traffic regularity represents one of the crucial principles in performing technological processes of traffic, i.e. transport and one of the crucial principles in scheduling. The paper is divided into four sections. In the first section entitled INTRODUCTION the term regularity of traffic is defined etymologically i.e. linguistically, as a technical term or terminus technicus that is used in the traffic science followed by the discussion about regularity as one of the seven principles that may represent principles of traffic policy of a country, principles of business policy of the carriers and principles of transport technology. The second section entitled RANKING OR CATEGORIZATION OF TRAFFIC REGULARITY AS PRINCIPLE analyses in more detail the regularity as the principle of traffic policy, regularity as the principle of carriers' business policy, regularity as principle of traffic technology, regularity as principle of carriers' technology and regularity as the principle of scheduling. This section particularly analyzes the elements for scheduling such as the data on the tram traffic network, data on the rolling stock, data on the energy system, data on the volume and characteristics of traffic demand, data on legislation and other legal regulations. This section provides also detailed analyses of the principles for scheduling and apart from general principles the focus is also on special principles for scheduling in tram traffic that have to pay attention to the specific characteristics of the concrete network, specific characteristics of concrete city, and specific desires, requests and needs of the passengers. The third section entitled SYSTEMATIZATION OF FACTORS INFLUENCING THE REGULARITY OF TRAM TRAFFIC analyzes the factors influencing the supply of traffic capacities, factors influencing the traffic capacity demand, influencing factors in the function of general and special regulations, influencing factors as function of city policy regarding tram traffic, and influencing factors as function of development of emergencies within the tram traffic system. The fourth section is entitled CONCLUSION.
