Road Traffic Safety in Night-Time Conditions as Seen from the Aspect of the problem of Glare
Usage of headlights during driving is a compromise between producing sufficient amount of light for the driver to be able to see the road in front of him and avoiding excess light that causes glare. Discomfort glare has a discomforting effect and causes fatigue, disturbance, apprehension and pain. Disability glare reduces drivers' ability to see low-contrasted objects. This paper aims at emphasizing the need to apply measures to reduce glare in traffic. Some of the measures would be implemented through legislative changes, while the others would require changes to be implemented by road-traffic agencies and vehicle manufacturers.
