Radiation damage in powder samples prepared with binder
The powder samples prepared by briquetting should be compact and should have a smooth surface as well as good handling resistance. During the time standard samples as hematite or magnetite ore, sinters, mixture of sinters, slags and others pressed into briquette with binder and examined on the VDM device diminished their wear resistance after radiation. Also, the measured intensities of analytical lines showed the deviation concerning the accuracy and reproducibility of measurement. To explain those deviation the model samples were used. Namely, results of sieve analysis showed change in each fraction, x-ray diffraction pattern in fragmentation of crystallite size/or microstrein and the micrographs information of sharply edged particle, interruption of initial lamellar structure and round shaped crystals with adhering particle after of irradiation.
