Indirect roof heating of flame furnaces
In this paper the mathematical model of heat transfer in an open-flame furnace is described in which the mode of indirect oriented radiant heat transfer is applied. Using this model and assuming a non-grey atmosphere inside a furnace the influence of roof indirect radiation on the heat exchange has been investigated. The main objective of this study was to examine the capabilities of new numerical model for predicting the effect of changes in thermal power of burners, temperature of metal load, coefficient of convective heat transfer from flame to refractory roof, roof surface emissivity and gas emissivity on heat transfer and fuel consumption in a furnace.
