Kinetics of the thermal degradation of an epoxy / poly(oxypropylene)dimine / octadecylammonium modified montmorillonite system
Thermal degradation kinetics of organic-inorganic nanocomposites based on organically modified montmorillonite and a commercial epoxy resin have been investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). For organic modification of montmorillonite octadecylamine was used. Commercial poly(oxypropylene) diamine (Jeffamine® ; D230) was used as a curing agent for epoxy resin. Energy of activation for degradation of the epoxyamine system and nanocomposites with different inorganic content was determined by isoconversional Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose method. The process of degradation was described by appropriate empirical kinetic model.
