Comparison of Solid Spur Gear Face Load Factors
The research into stress state of a solid spur gear has enabled the comparison of analitically and numerically established effect of load distribution over the facewidth, upon the tooth-root stresses. The investigation has been performed by means of 3D FEM utilizing the developed single gear model. The different linear shape load distributions, from constant load to the triangular shape, were applied at the highest point of single pair tooth contact. The values of face load factors for tooth-root stress estimated by the standard ISO, have been compared with the corresponding tooth-root stress ratious resulting from numerical simulation. The actual accomplished tooth-root stress distribution over the facewidth has been taken into consideration for the evaluation of the load distribution impact, going from the case of uniform load distribution. Consequently, the emphasis has been added to the range of the chosen facewidth values, and the differences between analytical and numerical approach have been underlined.
