Contribution of Thin-Rimmed Gear Blank to Tooth-Root Stress Non-Uniformity

The tooth-root longitudinal stress distribution of thin-rimmed spur gear with different gear blank structures, has been determined by use of parametric finite-element analysis. The correlation between the tooth load distribution corresponding to certain gear blank under consideration, has been accomplished through the developed 3D pinion-wheel model. The variation in maximum tooth-root stress along the chosen facewidth of influence is presented as a function of gear blank elements i.e. the rim and web.
