Mechanical properties of electrospun carbon nanotube composites
The structure of carbon nanotube (CNT) is a promising building block for future nanocomposite structures. Mechanical properties of the electrospun butadiene elastomer reinforced with CNT were analyzed by the multiscale method. The dependence of nanofiber diameter on electric field and soultion concentration is estimated from the experimental data. The effective properties of nanofiber were determined by using the modified micromechanical shear-lag model. Random fibrous network was generated according to the experimentally determined stochastic quantificators. The influence of CNT reinforcement on elastic modulus electrospun sheet at the macroscopic level is determined by the finite element method.
