Transient Temperature Behaviour Of The MO Suger Arrester Aged By Repeated Application Of Current Impulses And Analyzed By Means Of Computer Aided Thermal Modelling
Measurments on samples of the Zno materila were made unter different stress conditions regarding the applied voltage, sample temperature and number of the current impulses already experienced by the simple. The found material characteristics were introduced into model of a hypothetical line arresters. The uniform voltage distribution along arrester blocks was calculated, so only the representative arrester section was used in the thermal model. The critical energy and number of current impulses required to trigger the termal tunaway was found from the cooling/heating characteristics of the arrester. The hypothetical arrester didnot experience large temperature increase during first the two hours.
