Tram track vibration intensity dependence on rail fastening system
A tram vehicles running on a track causes vibrations in tram track structure as well as in the neighboring ground. Because of that, one of the most important objectives in design of tram tracks in urban areas is decrease of track vibration intensity. The paper shows research results of the vibration intensity of tram track caused by the vehicles’ route communication, varied tram types and speeds, in Zagreb (Croatia). Tram traffic in Zagreb represents a major means of the urban public transport and is extremely intensive, amounting to 15 million gross tonnes a year per cross section. The research was performed on tram tracks that are installed on a continuous concrete base and that implement differing rail fastening systems, discrete and continuously system. The measurements were carried out on two types of discrete rail fastening systems, which are common use in Zagreb, Zg-3/2 and DEPP. These fastening systems, where the rails are supported at discrete distances, are compared with continuously fastening system, which are planed to be used on Jurisiceva-Draskoviceva intersection, which is one of the most important for functioning of tram traffic in Zagreb. The investigation results were used to define the effects of rail fastening systems on reduces of tram track vibration intensity.
