Sažetak
We report on the development of an electrochemical impedance sensor for physico-chemical characterization of sea surface microlayers by using the impedance signal in combination with fractal analysis. The platform for this sensor is a mercury drop electrode coated with a defect free monolayer of dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine (DOPC). The sensor involves the formation of a recognition complex between the sensing DOPC and the sea surface microlayer forming material. To demonstrate qualitative and quantitative selectivity of the sensor response the changes in the impedance signal observed for different sea surface microlayer extracts are compared. The extraction of microlayer forming material was performed by organic solvents of different polarities. It is demonstrated that impedance spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the analysis of interfacial properties of the coated electrode and of recognition processes at the modified surface.
