Sensitivity analyses of global stability in sanitary landfills
The global stability of landfills is influenced by many factors including wide range of parameters. To establish the influence of selected parameter on global factor of safety, the sensitivity analysis was carried out. Three main groups of parameters were defined: strength parameters of waste and bottom liner, geometrical parameters (slope of disposed waste, position and shape of failure surface, appearance of tension cracks) and variations of leachate level. In addition, global factor of safety was also analyzed using stress state data along the failure surface obtained by finite element method. This procedure establishes a relatively new approach compared to the well- established limit equilibrium methods.
