EMC Aware Circuit Design and Optimizations

The paper describes the procedure for optimizations of integrated circuits (ICs) with respect to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The optimization is performed in order to reduce electromagnetic emissions and to improve electromagnetic immunity. The circuits are optimized by using the optimization approach with the cost function calculated by circuit simulations. The hybrid approach to optimization combines the global search strategy using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Direct Pattern Search (DPS) method used as local search strategy. The design of EM compatible ICs can be substantially simplified and automated by using this procedure.
