Analiza akumuliranog I-131 i Cs-137 u zamorčadi nakon nesreće u Černobilu
Raised atmospheric levels of radioactive material due to the Chernobyl reactor accident were the reason for the following measurements. Radioactivity levels of I-131 and Cs-137 in guinea pigs thyroid glands, liver and muscles were determined. Observed quantities of radionuclides accumulated in animal tissues were due to the intake of contaminated grass as the only food the animals were taking during the summer period. The direct measurements of I-131 and Cs-137 in tissue samples started on May 8, 1986 on the Brezje farm in the vicinity of Zagreb. The peak of I-131 deposition in thyroid glands was observed seven days following the beginning of measurements (up to 1200 Bq/g). Considerably lower activities due to Cs-137 were detected in the liver (0.17 Bq/g) and muscles (0.1 Bq/g) two months later.
