Software description for motor torque estimation unit

This document describes software design for Torque estimation unit. It describes the general princip of torque estimation technique, software suport for the main program routines, start routines, AD (Analog to Digital conversion) routines and serial port interrupt routines. This unit is a part of the large project, which is related for development of speed and current (torque) controller for slipring induction motors in control systems such as crane systems, steel-work and other havy duty material handling systems. For the actual electromagnetic torque feedback information, this controller employ torque estimation technique based on line voltages and currents measurement. Estimated torque is feedback signal for inner torque control loop. The main part of this technical documentation consists of the subroutine programs in C code. Complete program is realized as GUI (Graphical User Interface) envirement, where to each basic graphical program element a specific C program subroutine code is associated. In this way, software project is built in a familiar manner, just connecting the basic program elements in the uniqe program chart according to the specific function.

This software design is developed according to agreement between Faculty of electrical engineering and computing in Zagreb (FER), department of electric machines and drives (ZESA) from one side, and company ABB, from Vasteräs, Sweden. It is related to hardware design of same unit (DATX132) completely developed, designed and tested from the same research group (document ZES 539).
