Parents' Inclusion and Primary Prevention of Behaviour Disorders in Children in a Pre-school Institution

This work starts from the presumption that the empowerment of parents for their parental function, in the most important period of the child's development, is almost the only way to affect the process and "results" of the child's primary socialization. The path of empowerment is actually a path of investment in the primary prevention of behaviour disorders in children and youth being carried out in an interaction between the family (parents) and the institution of pre-school education. On a sample of (92) parents of pre-school children, a model of working with groups of parents in the year before their children start primary school will be presented. The model explains how parents are to be guided towards becoming aware of their own perception of the child's prepareness for school, the perception of the forms of behaviour the child masters or should acquire and the ways of teaching new modes of behaviour related to school. The factor analysis established four factors which explain the parents' self-assessment of their prepareness for the child starting school and four factors explaining the parents' assessment of the child's prepareness for school. Key words: primary prevention of behaviour disorders, pre-school age children, prepareness for school, parents, kindergarten.
