Casting of Brake Shoes for Trams

This paper examines production of brake shoes in one foundry on the basis of available documentation. Tests of chemical composition, hardness tests and metallography analysis have been earned out during production process itself. Faults in the on-going production have been determined and proposals for improvement of casting technology have been made.
