Lymphocyte subpopulations monitoring in renal allograft recipients: Preliminary results
The subject matter of the studies reported in this article is the investigation of lymphocyte subpopulations in patients: a) on hemodialysis and b) during the first two months after transplantation. The relative and absolute numbers of cells forming active, total and EAC rosettes were detemined. The results showed that the relative and absolute numbers of cells forming all kinds of rosettes are significantly depressed in patients on hemodialysis. Five recipients of a parental kidnex and six patients with a cadaver kidney were studied. Our observation that the percent participation of active-T in the total number of T lymphocytes is much higher at the time of rejection reflects the role of this subpopulation in the rejection process.
