Generalized pustular sporiasis and impetigo herpetiformis: A syndrome of intermittent isolated hypopituitarism?
The serum values of gonadotropins (FSH and LH), LH-releasing hormone, progesterone and testosterone were followed in four patients with generalized pustular psoriasis during the exacerbation period and later in remission. Reduced values of LH and FSH, and a weak response in the LH/RH test were noted in all the patients during the exacerbation period. Decreased values of testosterone were also found in most of the patients. On the basis of these findings, the disease could be considered a syndrome of intermittent isolated hypophyseal hypogonadism, i.e. hypogonadotropic hypogonadism of unknown etiology.
