Capacitive Energy Storage Device to Cover Voltage-Drops in Transportation Vehicles

A capacitive energy storage device to cover voltage-drops of the input voltage in transportation vehicles is proposed. The system has been designed as an energy-source to be placedat DC-bus of DC/AC power converters. For the power-conversion circuit, which is necessary to compensate the voltage variations of the storage capacitors by discharging and charging, a converter topology is proposed which allows the bidirectionnal energy flow. Simulation and experimental results are also presented to verify the analysis. Experimental results have been recorded from a prototype.
