Meeting the Needs of Children in Resettlement Process in Hrvatska Kostajnica
Society for Psychological Assistance provided psychosocial support to a group of refugees from Hrvatska Kostajnica in a collective center in Zagreb from 1991. After the resettlement became possible, planning of activities started in 1996 in Hrvatska Kostajnica. The goal was to facilitate transition to the original community and social reconstruction. Not only was the community very dameged during the war, with very few jobs available, but the pre-war poputation changed considerably. Many Bosnian Croat refugee families were accommodated in the remaining houses previously inhabited by the local Serbs. With the prospect of increasing return of the Serbian displaced families, the level of uncertainty, anxiety and tensions increased.
